ISLAMABAD – Yet another attempt has been made to reset the ties with theUnited States.
US Chargé d’Affaires, Paul Jones called on Foreign Minister ShahMehmood Qureshi in Islamabad on Thursday.
The two dignitaries discussed the regional security situation and agreed tofurther strengthen bilateral relations.
They also agreed to work together to achieve the common objectives in theregion especially in the backdrop of Afghan situation and the peace talkscurrently going on.
Islamabad and Washington are trying to ‘reset’ the ties as announced byShah Mehmood Qureshi after the visit of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
A day earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday said thatPakistan will be held to account if it does not make “sincere” efforts tocurb terrorist fighting in Afghanistan.
Pompeo stated this while giving a comment on long-delayed legislativeelections in Afghanistan; he welcomed the polls, saying Washington wasencouraged by the voter turnout.
