PIA, PSM privatisation, PTI government official stance reported

ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Finance, Asad Umer Thursday said thatPakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government would take steps to boostexports. Steps had been taken to bring improvement in various sectors, hestated while talking to a private news channel.

Asad Umer said the textile sector would also be given special attention sothat due results could be achieved. Subsidy amounting to Rs.7 billion wasgiven to promote agriculture sector besides enhancing the efficiency offarmer community.

To a question, the minister said the present government was introducing‘transparent marketing system’ with the help of federal board of revenueand other stakeholders.Replying to another question about loan from IMF, he said the previousgovernments had also borrowed loans from the IMF.

He said all out efforts would be made to enhance efficiency in variousinstitutions. We were not planning to privatize PIA, PSM and othergovernment institutions, he added. – APP
