ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has been sent notice by the SupremeCourt of Pakistan in Justice Qazi Faiz Isa Reference case lodged by thegovernment against Supreme Court Judge.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan had issued notices to the president and theprime minister in a set of petitions filed against the filing of apresidential reference against Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
Headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial, the full court hearing a set ofpetitions against the filing of the presidential reference against JusticeIsa observed during Tuesday’s brief proceedings that the question whetherthe president and the prime minister could be implicated as a party in thepetitions challenging the reference against a sitting judge when bothenjoyed constitutional immunity, needed to be examined.
Justice Bandial made these observations after consulting fellow judgesexcept for Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah who could not attend the hearingbecause he was abroad.
The court issued notices to the respondents in the petitions with theobservation that the points highlighted in the petitions deservedconsideration and it was a good case to issue notices to the respondents.
