PM Imran Khan holds meeting with Ethiopian President Sahle Work Zewde

ISLAMABAD – Talking to President of Ethiopia Sahle-Work Zewde on thesidelines of 74th session of the UNGA session in New York,Prime MinisterImran Khan underlined Pakistan’s desire to expand trade and economicoutreach to Africa and highlighted the importance of stronger Pak-Ethiopiarelations.

The Prime Minister recalled his meeting with Ethiopian Prime Minister AbiyAhmed on the margins of the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing in April and thesubsequent high level contacts between the two countries.

The Prime Minister also highlighted Pakistan’s “Engage Africa” policy andthe resolve to deepen cooperation in all fields.

Imran Khan shared Pakistan’s concerns over the situation in Indian OccupiedJammu and Kashmir and emphasized that the international community muststrongly urge for the lifting of curfew and other restrictions that hadbeen imposed on the civilian population for over 51 days. In the bilateralcontext, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen existing friendly tiesby deepening bilateral economic engagement.
