ISLAMABAD – Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi onTuesday called on Commander Islamic Republic of Iran Navy (IRIN) RearAdmiral Shahram Irani and Commander of Northern Fleet Commodore AbdolvahabTaheri during his official visit to Iran. On arrival, the Naval Chieflink was received by Commander IRINand was presented Guard of Honour, said a Pakistan Navy news releasereceived here.
During meeting with Commander IRIN, the Naval Chieflink was given detail briefing onroles and objective of Iran Navy. Besides, professional matters of mutualinterest including bilateral naval collaborations and security environmentof Indian Ocean Region were discussed.
The Admiral highlighted Pakistan Navy’s focused efforts towards MaritimeSecurity, Counter Piracy Operations and PN initiative of Regional MaritimeSecurity Patrol (RMSP). Iranian Naval Commander acknowledged and highlyappreciated the role and contribution of Pakistan Navy for maintainingpeace and stability in the maritime domain.
The dignitaries agreed to enhance bilateral collaboration between the twocountries in general and Navy to Navy in particular. Afterwards, NavalChief link laid floral wreath at theMartyrs monument at the National Museum of Defence.
Later, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi visitedIranian Northern Fleet (4th Naval Regional HQ) at Bandar Anzali where hewas given briefing on responsibilities and capabilities of NorthernFleet. NavalChief link also visited shipbuildingyards and Naval Museum. It is expected that recent visit of the NavalChief link will further boostbilateral relations between the two navies.
