New development reported in the investigations of the ill-fated crashed PIA Airbus near Karachi Airport

Karachi: New development reported in the investigations of the ill-fatedcrashed PIA Airbus near Karachi Airport.A team of the Aircraft Accident andInvestigation Board on Sunday examined the runway at the Karachi airportwhere pilot of the ill-fated plane made botched landing attempt.

The investigators analysed the footage captured through cameras installedat the runway.

They found that the Pakistan International Airlines flight, PK8303, touchedthe runway but the landing gear was not down, thus, the engines hit theground.

The plane was taken off by the pilot for a second attempt to land theaircraft but it hit a building and crashed before reaching the runway asboth engines had stopped working.

The team has found scratch marks on the runway while the observed thepoints where patches were also ruptured.

On Friday, A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight, PK-8303, tookoff from Lahore airport and was slated to land at Jinnah Internationalairport when it crashed in the residential area of Model Colony in Malir,nearly 4km away from the site of incident.

The plane was carrying 99 people including 8 crew members. All of people onboard lost their lives except two who remained safe miraculously in thecrash.
