RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwavisited the Line of Control (LoC) on Sunday and celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr withsoldiers in the Puna sector after offering Eid prayers, Inter-ServicesPublic Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
According to the military’s media wing, the army chief offered Eid prayersat the frontline and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of Pakistanin these difficult times, particularly seeking God’s blessings for thenation to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking to the troops, COAS lauded their professionalism, operationalpreparedness befitting response to Indian ceasefire violations and theirmorale in the face of evolving challenges.
“Performing ones duty away from home even on such festive occasions is asoldier’s pride and we shall continue to do so with utmost commitment andunflinching resolve,” Gen Bajwa said.
He said the Pakistan Army was observing Eid solemnly in solidarity withKashmiris living under Indian occupation, particularly since August 5th’sillegal, inhuman lockdown and ensuing atrocities.
“India is trying to shift the global attention away from worseninghumanitarian crisis and violence in Indian occupied Kashmir to LoC bytargeting innocent civilians across the line. Kashmir is a disputedterritory and any attempt to challenge the disputed status including anypolitical or military thought related to aggression will be responded withfull national resolve and military might. Disturbing the stability matrixin South Asia can lead to dire consequences,” he said.
Pakistan Army is fully alive to the threat spectrum and will remain everready to perform its part in line with national aspirations, COASreiterated.
