King Salman of Saudi Arabia telephones Indian PM Modi

JEDDAH – King Salman of Saudi Arabia telephoned Indian Prime MinisterNarendra Modi today (May 24) and congratulated him on on his BharatiyaJanata Party-led nationalist alliance winning a second term in thecountry’s parliamentary elections, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said onFriday.

King Salman expressed his sincere congratulations to Modi on the successand wished more prosperity for the Indian people.

The Indian prime minister thanked the King for the telephone call andexpressed his keenness to strengthen relations between the two countries indifferent fields.

Earlier on Thursday, King Salman sent a cable of congratulations to Modi onhis party winning the general elections under his leadership.

In his own name and on behalf of the government and people of Saudi Arabia,the King expressed most sincere congratulations to the prime minister, andwished the people of India steady progress and prosperity.

Also on Thursday, Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier andminister of defense, sent a similar cable of congratulations to the Indianprime minister.

In his cable, the crown prince wished the prime minister good health andsteady progress and prosperity for the people of India.
