BEIJING – To improve management of border defence, the People’s LiberationArmy of China (PLA) has reportedly developed a new kind of equipment. Asper sources in Indian security agencies, China has developed early warningmonitoring system and is now installing these at Indo-China border forenhancing surveillance capacity.
The new early warning monitoring system which has network-centricsurveillance camera is capable of detecting any movement in and aroundborder areas and can be used in all weather conditions. China is placingthese systems at disputed border areas.
As per an earlier report, the PLA has begun making use of advancedtechnology all along the Sino-India border. China is also using fabricatedfortifications specially designed to shelter arms, equipment, personnel andobservation stations from both plain sight and enemy attacks.
The fabricated fortifications are designed in a way that helps PLA erectthem quickly and double up as a designed battlefield engineering supportsystem. It’s composed of the main frame with reactive projectile resistanceand electromagnetic shielding systems. It can be assembled and dismantledmultiple times, say sources.
The Defence Engineering Research Insitute of Academy of Military Science(AMS) of PLA has developed these special fortifications which have fourmajor categories: a) Observation center, b) Shooting Command center, c)Personnel sheltering and d) Equipment sheltering.
These fortifications have lightweight components, have a small size, areconvenient for mobile transportation and have a flexible designconstruction.
The Chinese Army has begun using these which possibly shows that while calmmay have returned to the border, the PLA is still actively looking toenhance its operational ability here.
