*SRINAGAR: In a fresh crackdown, Indian police have arrested over a dozenyouth including Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leaders fromdifferent areas of the occupied territory.*
According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS), two days after the Indian HomeMinistry banned the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front led by MuhammadYasin Malik, police arrested around half a dozen leaders including BashirAhmad Boya and Abdur Rasheed Mugloo from Baramulla, Ganderbal and southerndistricts in nocturnal raids, a senior police officer said.
“Booking any of these arrested persons under the Public Safety Act (PSA) orfor a long period will be decided after the background check of thesepersons is conducted,” the official said.
“We are calling them to police stations but most of them don’t turn up.From today onwards, the police will be assisting magistrates in sealing theoffices and other locations of the JKLF,” the official said.
On the other hand, the media service of Kashmir said, Indian troopsarrested Shahid Ahmad Butt, Ishfaq Ahmad Lone and Rayees Hurra from apassenger bus in Narbal along Srinagar–Baramulla highway while two morepersons including a Junior Engineer, Manzoor Ahmad Itoo was booked underPSA and was shifted to Kot Bhalwal jail, Jammu.
The troops arrested, at least, seven youth during house raids at Arhama insouth Kashmir’s Shopian district, last night. The detained youth wereidentified as Ishaq Ittoo, Merajuddin Mir, Arshad Lone, Shabbir Kulley,Ghulam Nabi Mir, Irfan Ittoo and Fayaz Ahmad Mir, KMS reported.
Meanwhile, Indian police arrested two Kashmiri youth who had gone toPakistan two months ago on legal documents while returning. They werearrested at at Lakhanpur in Kathua district while travelling in a passengerbus and were sent to Joint Interrogation Centre in Jammu.
