SRINAGAR – In a big setback to occupied Jammu Kashmir Police (JKP) whichhas been trying hard to wean away youth from clutches of militancy, son ofa police personnel joined freedom movementon Friday.
Abid maqbool Bhat, son of head constable Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, a residentof Khangund Tral has joined freedom fighters.
Mohammad Maqbool is a head constable in the armed police in JKP. The fatheralerted the police after pictures of gun totting Abid went viral on socialmedia. A senior cop said,” The level of indoctrination in region is high.With smart phones and 4G network , youth are swayed.”
Earlier, 16-year-old boy named Fardeen Ahmad Khanday, was first fidayeen infourteen years to join Jaish-E-Mohammedlink>.He had carried out the deadly new years eve attack.
Four CRPF personnel were killed in the attack on the Lethapora groupcentre. Khanday was son of a serving police personnel. Khanday’s father wasin escort of then IG Kashmir Muneer Khan. He was later moved out of theescort.
Hizbul Mujahideen commander Abid Khan, resident of Handoora was shot in2015. He was also the son of a head constable.
