ISLAMABAD – The inaugural session of Bilateral Consultations betweenPakistan and Malaysia was held in Islamabad on Monday.
The Pakistan side was led by Foreign Secretary, Tehmina Janjua whileSecretary General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Dato SriMuhammad Shahrul Ikram bin Yakob headed the Malaysian side.
Both sides agreed that regular Bilateral Consultations are essential tomonitor progress and achieve results.
Detailed discussions were also held on regional and global issues,including the situation in Afghanistan, Kashmir and Palestine.
The Foreign Secretary briefed the Malaysian Secretary General on thecurrent situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Indianbelligerence which is a threat to peace and security.
The two sides reaffirmed their resolve to promote closer cooperation atinternational fora.
The Secretary General also called on Foreign Minister, Makhdoom ShahMahmood Qureshi.
The Foreign Minister welcomed the Malaysian delegation in Pakistan andexpressed satisfaction over the upward trajectory in bilateral relationsbetween Pakistan and Malaysia.
