ISLAMABAD – Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday calledChinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and briefed him on theevolving regional situation post-Pulwama incident in the Indian OccupiedKashmir.
During the telephonic conversation, the Foreign Minister thanked China forits steadfast support. He underscored Pakistan’s desire for peace andstability in the region and resolution of all issues through negotiationsand dialogue withIndia.
He also highlighted the steps taken by Pakistan to de-escalate thesituation,a Foreign Office statement issued here said.
State Councilor Wang Yi thanked the Foreign Minister for the call andappreciatedPakistan’s efforts. He agreed that the unfolding regional situation wasserious with implications for peace and security of the entire region.
He also acknowledged Pakistan’s invaluable contributions in the fightagainst terrorism for which Pakistan has paid a heavy price.
The two Foreign Ministers agreed to stay in touch with each other over theregional developments.
