The Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, has said that thegovernment will soon finalize a procedure for successfully implementing theElectric Vehicle (EV) policy for four-wheelers in Pakistan.
The minister added that the key motivation behind the introduction of thepolicy is to reduce the levels of pollution across the country and generatemore work opportunities for the people of Pakistan.
Fawad Chaudhry stated that there had been a delay in the issuance of theordinance but hopefully, it will be sorted out soon. He added that therelevant parties have been invited to submit the proposals for the EVpolicy, which will be reviewed by the President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi.——————————

The minister further highlighted that, following the introduction of thenew policy, the public transport sector will also flourish, as the masseswill gravitate towards the use of safe and cheap means of transportation.
On December 22, 2020, the government approved Pakistan’s first EV Policy,which included incentives for the manufacturing of 2 and 3-wheeledvehicles. Following that development, numerous EV makers expressed theirinterest in terms of setting up EV manufacturing plants in Pakistan.
