ISLAMABAD – French Ambassador Marc Barety called on Secretary Defenseretired Lieutenant General Zamir-ul-Hassan Shah in Rawalpindi on Thursdayand discussed matters pertaining to defence cooperation.
They were of the view that national and regional security is an importantand common concern and the two countries can help each other throughsharing of experience and information particularly in the fields of counterterrorism and de-radicalization.
The Secretary Defence highlighted the importance of stable and prosperousAfghanistan and reiterated Pakistan’s resolve for facilitating all sorts ofpeace efforts in Afghanistan.
He apprised the Ambassador about the situation along the LoC andhighlighted excessive border violations by Indian Army in 2017.
The Secretary Defence pointed out that international community needs totake serious notice of the situation.
The Ambassador assured that both international community as well asEuropean Union is monitoring the situation along the LoC.
