DTH licences bidding: 13 hours fight enters second day

ISLAMABAD (APP): Even after 13 hours of bidding for auction of three Direct to Home Service licences of PEMRA, no winners could emerge and the auction process entered second day.

DTH license auction: Bidding companies list

After getting conditional permission from the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Wednesday started auction process of first three licences for the direct- to-home (DTH) service.

The bidding started from Rs 200 million and at mid night crossed the figure of Rs 4300 million mark and still higher offers were coming.

Shehzad Sky Ltd gave the so far biggest bid of Rs 4300 million followed by Mag Entertainment offer of Rs 4280 million.

Out of twelve short listed companies, eleven participated in the bidding process while Mastro Commissions failed to appear for the bidding.

DTH License auction final programme announced

Speaking on the occasion, PEMRA chairman, Absar Alam said that it was a

historic day as Pakistan had finally joined the club of the nations having their own DTH service.

He said the DTH would prove to be a game changer in the cable and media industry of the country.
