Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Religious Harmony Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi announced on Saturday that Saudi Arabia has allowed pilgrims from Pakistan to perform Hajj this year.

In a tweet, Ashrafi said that 60,000 pilgrims from across the globe would be able to perform Hajj this year, adding that vaccination against COVID-19 had been declared a must for every traveller to the holy land.

He said that details of the quota allotted to Pakistan would be shared later, adding that every pilgrim would have to quarantine himself for three days after reaching the Arab country and before heading to the pilgrimage.

He said that pilgrims below the age of 18 and above 60 could not perform Hajj this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
