Thousands of Muslims offer Friday prayers at Hagia Sophia mosque July 24, 2020
ISLAMABAD-In Turkey, thousands of Muslims offered Friday prayers at historic Hagia Sophia in Istanbul on Friday after 86 years. The people took part in the Friday prayers inside and outside the mosque.
On this occasion, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan recited from the Quran. The 1,500-year-old Unesco World Heritage site was converted into museum in 1934.
But a Turkish court annulled its status, saying any use other than as a mosque is not possible legally.
