KARACHI: The Sachal police have registered a case against former Malir SSP Rao Anwaar and other accused.
The FIR contains sections of kidnap, murder and terrorism.
On the other hand, the Mehsud clan held the Jirga for the second day. Two youths who were arrested with the slain Naqeebullah also joined the Jirga.
The Jirga decided to make both youths witnesses of the case.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered that the name of Malir SSP Rao Anwaar, who has already been suspended from service, should be added to the Exit Control List. The court also summoned the former SSP, the Sindh Police IG and the team investigating the alleged extra-judicial killing for Saturday hearing at the Karachi Registry.
A three-member bench of the Supreme Court took up the suo motu hearing of the Malir SSP Rao Anwaar’s case ahead of the schedule on learning about an attempt by him to leave the country. The case had earlier been fixed for Wednesday hearing at the principal seat.
Chief Justice Saqib Nisar asked for a police report in the Naqib Mehsud case. He asked the deputy attorney general whether Rao Anwaar was still performing his duties. The court also ordered that the Interior Ministry place the officer’s name on the Exit Control List.
The court summoned Rao Anwaar, the Sindh Police IG and the investigation team members for a Saturday hearing at the Karachi Registry.
