Karachi - Over the much hyped issue of Maryam Nawaz name removal from ECL, Federal cabinet takes important decision.
The cabinet has decided not to remove the name of Maryam Nawaz from the Exit Control List (ECL).
This was stated by Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan while addressing a press conference regarding the cabinet meeting decisions on Tuesday. Federal Health Minister Dr Zafar Mirza also accompanied her.
Speaking on the occasion, Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the all the cabinet members rejected removal of Maryam Nawaz's name from the ECL. She said the government will perform duties under the limits of the law and Constitution.
“Our priority is the Parliament," she remarked.
Regarding court's orders to release Rana Sanaullah on bail, the special assistant said that the ANF will produce evidence in the trial court when the trial will begin. She said the relevant minister will highlight the details in Sanaullah's case later in a press briefing.
Regarding extension in army chief's tenure, Awan said that the cabinet did not discuss the matter in the meeting.
She said the cabinet has approved the 21 point agenda of the ECC during the meeting.
She said the cabinet meeting approved tax reforms.
She added that the cabinet has decided to appoint Rear Admiral Zakaur Rehman as General Manager of Karachi Port Trust. She said that an approval was accorded to appoint 11 members of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Awan mentioned that a package for over 13,000 families living at the Line of Control has also been approved. “Under the package, the affected families will be provided aid worth Rs640 million."
The special assistant said that the cabinet also decided to import polio marker from India. She stated that the federal cabinet also approved a summary regarding removing and including names of the people in the Exit Control List.
Meanwhile, Federal Health Minister Zafar Mirza said that the cabinet has decided to lower the prices of 89 medicines under the Medicine Pricing Policy 2018. He said the government is liable to reduce the prices of the medicines by 10% for a period of three years.
