SUKKUR: Like in other parts of the country, all administrative and security arrangements have been made for the second phase of 6th population and housing census starting from Tuesday, (April 25) in Khairpur and Shikarpur districts of the northern Sindh.
The second and final phase of the census will be completed on May 25 across the region.
Speaking on the occasion of handing over material to the census officials at Shikarpur, the Deputy Commissioner Shikarpur, Syed Hassan Raza said the process to count houses and population would be completed as per fixed days in the district.
He said 22 charge superintendents, 102 circle supervisors and 851 blocks have been established in the Shikarpur district.
He said security arrangements had also been put in place for the staff taking part in the census. He said army and police personnel would be accompanying the census staff during the process. A control room has also been set up which will remain functional round the clock.
The second phase of population and housing census is also begin from 25 April and all arrangements have been finalized in Khairpur and Shikarpur districts.
In Khairpur 1,794 blocks were carved out while 1271 civilians, 2063 army jawans and 1970 cops will perform duties in all eight talukas including Khairpur, Gambat, Sobhodero, Kotdiji, Naro, Mirwah and Faiz Gunj.
According to DIG Sukkur, in order to monitor the process of the population census two monitoring cells have been established, while arrangements have also been finalized for the second phase of the population census. (APP)
