Serene Air narrowly escaped horrific accident at Islamabad Airport

A Serene Air aircraft barely escaped a horrific accident at the NewIslamabad International Airport (IIA) today when a bird collided with itswindscreen while landing.

According to the details, the Serene Air flight ER-500 from Karachi toIslamabad was positioned to land at the IIA when a bird hit the windscreenin front of the pilot.——————————

The entire windscreen cracked with the impact of the strike, but the pilotlanded the aircraft safely.

The aircraft has been declared unfit for the next flight and was groundedfor maintenance.

Some passengers waiting for departure on the next flight of the sameaircraft left the airport after it was suddenly canceled while othersprotested against it.——————————

Bird strikes are frequent at almost all national airports. Every year,airlines pay millions of rupees in damages for planes because of them.

In a bid to counter these incidents, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) haddecided to deploy bird shooters at national airports. Twelve shooters weredeployed at the Allama Iqbal Airport, Lahore in October in this regard, andmore will be hired for the Karachi and Peshawar airports.
