Maryam Nawaz name removal from ECL, Federal cabinet takes important decision

Karachi – Over the much hyped issue of Maryam Nawaz name removal from ECL,Federal cabinet takes important decision.

The cabinet has decided not to remove the name of Maryam Nawaz from theExit Control List (ECL).

This was stated by Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Information andBroadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan while addressing a press conferenceregarding the cabinet meeting decisions on Tuesday. Federal Health MinisterDr Zafar Mirza also accompanied her.

Speaking on the occasion, Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the all the cabinetmembers rejected removal of Maryam Nawaz’s name from the ECL. She said thegovernment will perform duties under the limits of the law and Constitution.

“Our priority is the Parliament,” she remarked.

Regarding court’s orders to release Rana Sanaullah on bail, the specialassistant said that the ANF will produce evidence in the trial court whenthe trial will begin. She said the relevant minister will highlight thedetails in Sanaullah’s case later in a press briefing.

Regarding extension in army chief’s tenure, Awan said that the cabinet didnot discuss the matter in the meeting.

She said the cabinet has approved the 21 point agenda of the ECC during themeeting.

She said the cabinet meeting approved tax reforms.

She added that the cabinet has decided to appoint Rear Admiral ZakaurRehman as General Manager of Karachi Port Trust. She said that an approvalwas accorded to appoint 11 members of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Awan mentioned that a package for over 13,000 families living at the Lineof Control has also been approved. “Under the package, the affectedfamilies will be provided aid worth Rs640 million.”

The special assistant said that the cabinet also decided to import poliomarker from India. She stated that the federal cabinet also approved asummary regarding removing and including names of the people in the ExitControl List.

Meanwhile, Federal Health Minister Zafar Mirza said that the cabinet hasdecided to lower the prices of 89 medicines under the Medicine PricingPolicy 2018. He said the government is liable to reduce the prices of themedicines by 10% for a period of three years.
