ICC reveals the latest International Test Cricket Championship Rankings, Pakistan gets a surprise

ISLAMABAD – ICC reveals the latest International Test Cricket ChampionshipRankings, Pakistan gets a surprise as it has been placed in the top threeposition.Pakistan has grabbed 60 points for their victory over Sri Lanka inthe Karachi Test to move to 80 points in the ICC World Test Championshippoints table at the end of the two-match series.

Sri Lanka is also on 80 points, having reached the tally after the twoteams drew the opening Test in Rawalpindi, which gained them 20 pointseach.

Sri Lanka had gone into the Pakistan series with 60 points gained for a 1-1draw with New Zealand while Pakistan had failed to win a point in theirpreceding two-match series against Australia that ended earlier this month.

Each series of the WTC is worth 120 points, distributed evenly over thenumber of matches in a series. The points range from 60 points for eachmatch of a two-Test series to 24 for each match of a five-Test series.

India is firmly placed at the top with 360 points from three series –against the West Indies, South Africa and Bangladesh, who are all yet toget any points.

Australia is in the second position with 216 points after winning theopening match of their ongoing three-Test series against New Zealand. NewZealand is on 60 points while England has 56 for their 2-2 draw againstAustralia.

The top two teams at the end of the league will play the final in the UK inJune 2021 with the winners crowned the World Test Champions.
