Former Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal faces yet another blow from the Accountability court

ISLAMABAD –Former Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal faces yet another blowfrom the Accountability court.

Accountability court on Tuesday has approved 13-day physical remand offormer federal minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) seniorleader Ahsan Iqbal in Narowal sports city case.

During the hearing headed by judge Muhammad Bashir, the officials ofanti-corruption watchdog requested to grant Ahsan Iqbal’s physical remand.

The court, while approving the physical remand, directed to re-produce thePML-N leader on January 6.

On Monday, NAB had arrested Ahsan Iqbal over his involvement inembezzlement of Narowal sports city project funds.

The anti-graft watchdog body alleged that Iqbal had illegally initiated aproject of Rs 3 billion in Narowal; causing a loss worth billions to thenational exchequer.

NAB claimed to have received a complaint that the Narowal Sports City wasconstructed at a cost of approximately Rs6 billion, which was a violationof rules and had incurred heavy losses to the national exchequer.
