KARACHI – President Dr Arif Alvi lands in trouble as a petition has beenaccepted against his appointment in Sindh High Court.
As per the media report, The Sindh High Court (SHC) accepted on Monday apetition challenging the appointment of President Arif Alvi.
In his petition, Petitioner Azmat Rehan alleged that President Alvi had‘tampered with court records’. He added that the president had changed hisstatements in the Alvia Trust case, which he was a co-trustee of. Thepetitioner said that Alvi had changed his statements thrice before thecourt.
He contended that since Alvi had allegedly tampered with the court’srecords, therefore he should not be allowed to hold the office of Head ofState, local media reported. The SHC accepted his petition and issuednotices to the respondents.
The high court has also issued notices to the federal government as well asthe Election Commission of Pakistan. The SHC has ordered the respondents tosubmit their replies by Jan 1.
