Nawaz Sharif could be jailed for 14 years, likely to be arrested from court premises

*ISLAMABAD – Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik will announce theverdict on Al Alzizia and Flagship references against former prime ministerNawaz Sharif today (Monday).*

The verdict will be announced at 2pm, according to PML-N leader BarristerZafarullah, who is also a member of Nawaz’s legal time. He said securityofficials have informed them of this. However, we cannot say anythingdirectly as we have not been allowed inside the court, he said.

The verdict was reserved on December 19. If convicted, Nawaz could bejailed for a maximum of 14 years. He will be present in court to hear theverdict and reached Islamabad on Sunday. Nawaz has been ready since 8:30amto appear before the court, says Tariq Fazal Chaudhry.

The Islamabad administration and the capital security institutions haveadvised us that until they give us the security clearance, we should notcome to court, he said. They are the ones who are in touch with the court,he said, adding that they have been told there is some delay in the verdict.

Only Nawaz, his legal team and 30 PML-N leaders will be allowed inside thecourt. A select few media persons will also be allowed in.
