MUMBAI – Bollywood star Aditi Rao Hydari breaks silence over the sexualharassment episode she faced in the film industry.
The *Padmavati *actress revealed that she lost work for months afterrefusing to succumb to the situation.
On Friday, Aditi Rao Hydari was speaking at the India Today Conclave South2018 in Visakhapatnam, where she opened up about her sexual harassmentexperience.ADVERTISING
Mentioning that her ordeal is not so severe compared to the other women inthe industry who have opened up till date, the actress went on to narratethe incident.
“I remember when I started I was extra-naive because I came from aprotected background. I didn’t know that the rumours were true, that thingslike this did happen. And honestly, I have not had such a bad time. I hadone incident which actually didn’t harm me very much. But yes, I did losework because I was given a choice – it’s either this or this. For me, itwas a no-brainer. I had to walk away,” she said.
The 32-year-old actress, who was disheartened after the incident,fortunately, got work in the film industry after eight months with thesupport of her team.
Further speaking in support of the victims of sexual misconduct the actresssaid, “I think you should speak about something only when you are ready.And when you don’t talk about it, people are like, ‘Oh, they were paid off’or ‘oh, they were silenced. ”
Earlier, amid the ongoing #MeToo movement, Aditi took to Twitter in Octoberand wrote, “Slow clap for the dizzying heights of hypocrisy… People who areclearly guilty of major harassment giving *gyaan* on the #MeTooIndiamovement…”
