ISLAMABAD: Security forces arrested five Afghan nationals linked toterrorism during a successful intelligence-based operation in Ziaratdistrict of Balochistan, official sources confirmed on Sunday.
The detained individuals, identified as Sadiqullah, Farhad, Qudratullah,Ehsanullah and Muhammad Sabir, hail from Kandahar province of Afghanistan.They were allegedly involved in planning terrorist activities insidePakistan and smuggling weapons across the border.
Acting on credible intelligence, the forces conducted a targeted raid thatprevented potential attacks and disrupted the terror network operating inthe region.
A substantial quantity of arms and explosives was recovered from thepossession of the suspects, indicating their intent to carry out majorattacks.
The seized items included eight hand grenades, three sub-machine guns,parts of an M4 rifle, one grenade launcher, eight M4 magazines and fourteenSMG magazines.
Additionally, 420 rounds of SMG ammunition, 230 rounds of M4 ammunition,one kilogram of explosive material, six walkie-talkie sets and four mobilephones were recovered.
Two rocket-propelled grenades, one dagger, thirteen bags of ammunition andvarious electric cells were also part of the haul, highlighting the scaleof the threat.
The operation underscores ongoing efforts to counter cross-border terrorismand maintain security in Balochistan, a province frequently targeted bymilitant groups.
