Former President Asif Zardari seeks relief from Islamabad High Court

ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday extended its stayorders against the indictment of former president Asif Ali Zardari in Rs8.3billion suspicious transactions in fake bank accounts case.

A division bench of the IHC comprising Chief Justice of IHC Justice AtharMinallah and Justice Aamer Farooq conducted hearing of a petition filed byPakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman against the Islamabadaccountability court’s order dated October 14 of rejecting his acquittalplea in the case.

During the hearing, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutorNasir Mehmood Mughal submitted NAB’s reply in the petition. Zardari’scounsel Farooq H Naek said that he would argue the case after studying theNAB’s reply.

The court accepting his plea deferred the case till December 14 for furtherproceedings. The bench also restrained the trial court from framing chargesagainst him till further order
