ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday strongly rejectedthe baseless allegations regarding torture cells in its prisons and said itpresented every accused before the court for getting his remand accordingto the law.
NAB spokesman said no one has complained of torture, neither called theirprison a torture cell nor made a demand for a medical examination, said apress release.
NAB investigated every accused on scientific basis, preserved his selfrespect and acted according to law. All the stories of torture and torturecells were part of the aggressive and organized propaganda to stop NAB fromtaking legal action.
NAB was working independently as per law and without taking any pressure asper law as it believed in the policy of non-violence.
He said there was no need for torture during investigation of any whitecolour crime as it depended on documentary evidence.
A few days back Chairman NAB Justice (R) Javed Iqbal visited NAB Lahorewhere he inspected the jail and issued instructions that the accused shouldbe given facilities more than given in the jail manual.
NAB had hired the services of a full time doctor and medicines were managedimmediately on the advice of the doctor.
NAB wanted that criticism about it should be avoided as it was not aninstitution of an individual but of a nation and baseless allegations coulddamage its reputation.
