Afghan Chief Executive urged Taliban to engage in talks to promote peace

Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah has urged Taliban to engage in meaningful talks to promote peace in the war-torn country.

In an interview with AFP in Paris today, he said the Afghan Taliban have not yet shown any sign of seriousness about ending 17-year insurgency despite US efforts to push a fresh peace process.

He expressed hope that presidential election in Afghanistan will be held on time in April next year despite a recent upsurge in violence.
