PM Imran Khan address to the Nation: Key points

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said government successfullyobtained financial package from Saudi Arabia to reduce the immediate burdenof paying the installment of loans accumulated by previous governments.

Addressing the nation on TV and radio tonight, the Prime Minister said newgovernment faced the immediate burden of paying the installments of debt.He said had we gone to the IMF immediately, it would have hurt the nationas fulfilling their hard terms requires passing on burden on the masses.

He said the government made the strategy to ask the friendly countries totake loans from them in order to reduce burden on people. He saidgovernment is also in talks with some more friendly countries and hopefullythere will be a positive response from them too.

The Prime Minister said we also want to play the role of mediator in Yemenconflict. He said Pakistan will try to bring Muslim countries together byhelping to resolve their conflicts.

The Prime minister said those who are criticizing the current governmentare the ones who burdened the country’s economy with their ill economicplanning and corruption. He said those elements are trying to raise hue andcry as they are afraid of their accountability.

The Prime Minister warned that there will be no NRO for any one. He said nocorrupt will be spared, as he had promised to the nation in his electioncampaign. He said unless corrupt people are nabbed, the financial future ofthe country will remain bleak.

Imran Khan said the unearthing of accounts with exorbitant sums on thenames of ordinary people gives the sense of foul play by some people.

He said the cycle of taking loans and then to pass on burden to masses willbe broken.

He said the audit is being made of the previous loans to ascertain thefacts.

The Prime Minister said government is making efforts to stop the illegaloutflow of money. He said an investment friendly environment is beingcreated with one-window operations. He said the government has alsofacilitated mechanism for foreign remittances.

Imran Khan said he himself is overseeing the mega project of five millionhouses. He said forty countries are directly associated with the housingsector and will provide the youth employment opportunities.

He said a special package will be announced in the coming days to helpuplift the socio-economic conditions of people lower income backgrounds.

The Prime Minister asked the nation to be patient in this difficultexercise as the future holds a prosperous and developed Pakistan. He saidPakistan is endowed with immense resources and potential and it will makeprogress at a rapid pace once corruption is curtailed.

He said an investor enabling Pakistan will be created where people fromother countries will come to Pakistan to invest. He said our objective isto create a Pakistan which grants loans to other countries for theirdevelopment.
