In Sheikhupura, a tragic incident unfolded on Sunday, resulting in injuriesto approximately 20 passengers, including women and children. Thisunfortunate event occurred when two trains collided near Qilla Sattar Shahin the Sheikhupura district, according to reports from the local police.The collision transpired when a passenger train bound for Mianwali struck astationary freight train occupying the main railway line.

In the immediate aftermath of the accident, rescue teams swiftly arrived atthe scene to provide assistance. They promptly transported the injuredindividuals to a nearby hospital, where five of them are reported to be incritical condition.

The railway authorities have mobilized efforts to carry out rescueoperations at the accident site, ensuring the safety and well-being ofpassengers.

Despite this distressing incident, train operations in the Lahore divisioncontinue to function smoothly following the collision, as stated by therailway spokesperson. However, in response to the incident, four railwayofficials, including the train driver Imran Sarwar and his assistantMuhammad Bilal, have been suspended pending further investigation.An inquiry commission, under the leadership of a deputy principal officer,has been established to investigate the incident thoroughly and is expectedto submit its findings within the next 24 hours.
