Naveed Kamran Baloch appointed as Executive Director to the World Bank

Prime Minister Imran Khan has assigned Naveed Kamran Baloch as ExecutiveDirector (ED) to the World Bank (WB).

According to the details, Imran Khan has granted approval of Baloch’sappointment for the ED WB position and he would be leaving the country forWashington on October 31, 2020, replacing Shahid Ashraf Tarar.

The Economic Affairs Division (EAD) had moved the summary to PM with fournames including Azam Khan, Naveed Kamran Baloch, Secretary EstablishmentIjaz Munir, and former Governor State Bank (SBP) Tariq Bajwa.

The newly appointed ED will represent Pakistan at the World Bank for thenext three years.

The tenure of posting of ED/Alternate ED to World Bank and AsianDevelopment Bank reduced by one year from four years to three years inorder to bring tenure of Pakistani representatives in line with electioncycles for the appointment of Executive Director along with members ofother jurisdictions of the same constituency.

The incumbent ED to World Bank Shahid Tarar will return to the countryafter completion of his tenure.
