Ministry of National Food Security and Research (MNFSR) has rejected therumors on social media regarding transmission of Lumpy Skin Disease fromcattle to humans.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry said this disease is caused by avirus which spreads through bites of mosquitoes, Tsetse flies and ticks.
The statement further said as per current literature, LSD has no publichealth implications or affect humans. Boiled milk and well-cooked meat fromthe affected cattle are safe for human consumption.
In order to control the disease and to prevent its spread from one place toanother, Animal Husbandry Commissioner has issued guidelines to theprovinces which, inter alia, include information for the awareness offarmers and professionals.
