*ISLAMABAD: The federal government has released Rs 15.42 billion (2.2percent) for various ongoing and new development projects under PublicSector Development Programme (PSDP) 2019-20 against the total budgetedallocation of Rs 701 billion.*
The government released Rs 88.75 million out of Rs 110 billion budgetedallocation only for ongoing development projects of China-Pakistan EconomicCorridor (CPEC).
According to data of PSDP 2019-20 released by the Ministry of Planning,Development and Reform, the government released Rs 10.26 billion (3.13percent) for development projects of various ministries, divisions andrelated departments out of Rs 327.85 billion budgeted allocation.
The government did not release funds for Cabinet Division, Climate ChangeDivision, Communication Division (other than NHA), Defence Division,Defence Production Division, Establishment Division, Federal Education andProfessional Training Division, Finance Division, Information andBroadcasting Division, Information Technology and Telecom Division,Inter-Provincial Coordination Division, Law and Justice Division, NationalHighway Authority (NHA), Water Resources Division and Maritime AffairsDivision, etc.
However, the government released Rs 52.7 million for development projectsof Aviation Division against the total of Rs 1.266 billion budgetedallocation, and Rs 20 million out of Rs 100 million budgeted allocation forBoard of Investment. A total of Rs 4.45 billion have been released forForeign Affairs Division against Rs 29.05 billion budgeted allocation. Thegovernment released Rs 750.15 million out of Rs 9.85 billion fordevelopment projects of Interior Division and Rs 15.25 million for NationalHealth Services, Regulations and Coordination Division.
The government released Rs 4.27 billion out of Rs 24.46 billion budgetedallocation for development projects of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission,Rs 45.75 million for Planning, Development and Reform Division and Rs365.85 million for Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission(SUPARCO).
The Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform also has released Rs 4.66billion against the total of Rs 44.85 billion budget allocation fordevelopment projects of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) but no amount has beenreleased for development projects of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The funds are released as per quarterly ceilings; first quarter(July-September) 20 percent, second quarter (October-December) 20 percent,third quarter (January-March) 30 percent and fourth quarter (April-June) 30percent.
