ISLAMABAD – Samsung has unveiled its first ultra low-end Android Go phone,called the Galaxy J2 core. Just like the other Android Go phones, this onecomes with a toned down version of Android, with lighter resource usage andnot a lot of features. You still get a 3.5mm headphone jack and 4G supportthough.
The phone was leaked earlier this week when color renders of the J2 Coresurfaced on the interwebs, all but confirming its design.

It has a 5 inch 960 x 540 resolution LCD screen, with a power button andvolume button on the sides. The design is reminiscent of old-school Samsungsmartphones.
On the inside, it has an Exynos 7570 quad-core processor with 1 GB RAM and8 GB of onboard storage, which is expandable via a microSD card slot.

It features Android Oreo Go Edition with smaller and lighter apps,optimized specifically for low-end phones. It has a Samsung UI on top, afirst for Go Edition phones.
With the Android 9.0 Pie’s release, Google also unveiled Android Pie Goedition for the low-end phones. Unfortunately, the Galaxy J2 Core does notcome with Android Pie Go Edition, it makes do with the older Android OreoGo instead.
Also, this doesn’t mean you get stock Android on the J2 Core, Samsung hasoutfitted the phone with its own UI on top of the Android Go layer. We’llhave to see how it works out for Samsung as their UI has been generally notso resource friendly.
Lastly, it features an 8 MP camera on the back and a 5 MP shooter up front,with a 2,600 mAh battery under the hood.
Samsung did not reveal the price for the J2 Core, but it’s supposed to bebelow $100 (Galaxy J2’s price in India). The phone will be available inIndia and Malaysia with an international release expected in the comingmonths.
