SRINAGAR – Three CRPF jawans killed and injured when militants attacked asecurity forces’ party here, a spokesman of the paramilitary force said.
Militants fired upon the party at a naka near the Batamaloo area of thecity, a CRPF spokesman said.
“Constable Shankar Lal has been killed while two others have been injuredin the attack,” he said.
The injured personnel are undergoing treatment at a hospital, the spokesmansaid.
On Sunday, MoS Jitendra Singh said killing of security personnel in Jammuand Kashmir could be a conspiracy to discourage local youth from joiningsecurity forces.
“One after the other, our security forces are successfully moving ahead intheir anti-militancy operations, but killings of local security personnelcan be a conspiratorial design to discourage local Kashmiri youth fromjoining the security forces.”
There have been a series of targeted killings of security men in the state,with the latest one being in Kulgam where militants abducted a policeconstable and later his bullet-riddled body was found from Qaimoh Gath areain the district.
The constable was identified as Mohd Salim.
Earlier this month, the body of another police constable was found bylocals at Pariwan village in Kulgam, a day after he was abducted from amedical shop in Shopian. The constable, identified as Javaid Ahmad Dar, wasa resident of Vehil village. An army jawan, Auranzeb was abducted andkilled on June 14 in Pulwama.
