ISLAMABAD- Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday saidthat he is not part of any political game.
He was speaking to the media as he arrived to take oath as a lawmaker inthe Punjab Assembly link.
“Everybody knows the circumstances which led to my decision regarding nottaking oath as the MPA after my success in the National Assemblyconstituency was turned into a defeat,” he said.
“The provincial government recently introduced an ordinance despite clearlybeing stated in the constitution regarding the procedure of election andde-seating of an MPA,” he said while expressing his reservation on theordinance regarding disqualification of MPAs over their absence fromassembly proceedings.
“I was told that the oath could not be administered in the absence ofspeaker and deputy speaker,” the former interior minister during previousPML-N tenure said adding that as per the constitution, the chairmen panelcould also administer the oath to lawmakers.
He also announced that he could approach the high court after reviewing hisoptions following a denial from the assembly’s chair to take the oath.
