KABUL – The government of India is mulling to supply improved weaponsystems for counter-terrorism to Afghanistan in a bid to help equip theAfghan armed forces, it has been reported.

The military equipment and weapons will be delivered to Afghanistan as partof the latest decision by the government of India to help the friendlycountries, and as part of that the country will likely provide Afghanistanwith troop carriers, spares for tanks, and rocket systems that are used incounter-insurgency operations.

Top sources have told India Today that the Defence Ministry has asked thethree services to draw-up a list of weapon systems that they can spare.

Sources said New Delhi wants to give Afghanistan the Indian Army’s excessstocks.
