ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Army Director General of Inter Services PublicRelations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor underlined that his countrytries to prevent terrorist attacks similar to the February 13 suicide blastagainst the IRGC bus in Southeastern Iran.
“We are attempting to stop incidents like the terrorist attack against theIslamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in Zahedan and we will cooperatewith Iran to probe into the issue,” General Ghafoor, who is also thePakistani army’s spokesman, said on Saturday.
He also warned that third parties are after distorting relations betweenPakistan and Iran, and acknowledged the common borders of his country withIran and Afghanistan are the scene of many terrorist attacks.
“Terrorism is the common challenge of all regional states and we shouldresolve this issue collectively,” General Ghafoor said.
His remarks alluded to the terrorist attack against the IRGC’s bus carryingpersonnel on a road from the city of Khash to Zahedan, the capital ofIran’s Southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan on February 13 witha truck loaded with explosives.
A statement released by the Quds Base of the IRGC’s Ground Force at thetime said the bus was carrying a group of IRGC personnel “coming back froma border guarding mission when it came under a suicide car attack byTakfiri terrorists”, but did not mention the number of passengers.
