General Raheel’s announcement of retirement is pre mature: Ex. President Asif Ali Zardari

DUBAI: Former President of Pakistan and co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party Asif Ali Zardari claimed that Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif’s decision of retirement is premature.

He claimed that Pakistan is facing terrorism challenges from TTP and insurgent groups who are sponsored by foreign groups and Army Chief’s decision of retirement is before time.

He said “The decision can transform people’s hopes into disappointment, while it may also give a negative perception in war against terrorism.”

He urged political leadership that when time will come then take decision in the national interest and ponder upon extending the service of Army Chief.

He claimed that armed forces sacrificed a lot to improve law and order in the country.

He appreciated the army operations against terrorism in the country.

Nearly a month ago Asif Zardari appreciated the Army Chief’s decision of not taking extension in service.

COAS General Raheel Sharif recently said “I don’t believe in extension and will retire on the due date.”

Army Chief will retire in November 2016.
