SRINAGAR – The families of three young Kashmiri men killed by the Indianarmy speak out on international media, insisting that their children weremartyred in a staged gunfight.
According to the documentary compiled by Al Jazeera, father of martyr AtherMushtaq Wani said, “When I returned home, I couldn’t find myself at peace.”I went to ancestral graveyard and dug an empty grave.” “The villagersopposed this idea and said it won’t be the right thing,” he added.
Ather’s father further said, “It was a target fire. His face, nose, andhands were bruised. Is this justice? Is this humanity? he asked. He furtherappealed the government to return the body of his son.
Father of Zubair Ahmed, Ghulam Muhammad Lone said, “His son hardly got timefor anything else, not even for his meals.”
Mother of Aijaz Maqbool Ganai said, “I didn’t know they (Indian army) wouldcome after him. He was everything to me.”
Last month Indian forces had martyred three Kashmiris identified as16-year-old Ather Mushtaq Wani, 22-year-old Aijaz Maqbool Ganai and25-year-old Zubair Ahmed Lone, claiming they were supporters of armedgroups.
But the families of the youth insisted they were innocent and murdered in afake encounter, a term used to describe an extrajudicial killing.
