ISLAMABAD – PTI government responds over the new report by TransparencyInternational.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information (SAPM) Dr FirdousAshiq Awan rejected the Transparency International’s report regardingcorruption in Pakistan saying that the report is biased.
In a report released by Transparency International on Thursday, Pakistanranked 120 out of 180 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI)2019. On a scale of zero which is highly corrupt to 100 which is veryclean, Pakistan managed to score only 32 in 2019 index. Pakistan scored 33on the 2018 index.
Addressing the media, the SAPM questioned the transparency of the reportand termed it as biased. She said even the masses rejected the report whichapparently ‘has been managed by the corruption kings sitting abroad’.
She said who could respect the findings of a report that says the mostamount of corruption was done during the government of General PervezMusharraf, followed by Imran Khan’s government and then by the PakistanPeoples Party, placing the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz government at thevery bottom.
She further said that the PM has never compromised in the fight againstcorruption and never will do so in future, adding that the PTI governmentis committed to free the country of corruption and all the corruptpractices.
