Supreme Court stays execution of military court

ISLAMABAD (APP): The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the execution of Ihsan Azeem convicted by military court and directed to club all these kind of cases.

The three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and comprising Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Umar Ata Bandial heard the case filed by Sajida Parveen mother of the accused.

During the course of proceedings, the counsel for the petitioner informed the court that the law enforcement agencies held the accused from Wah Cantt on July 15, 2013.

Later, he was awarded death sentence over allegations of attacking a military camp by a military court.

He said that photo copy of the military court decision was also not provided.

He alleged that his client was awarded death sentence after one sided trial.

The Deputy Attorney General informed the court that the accused was held in Sahiwal jail.

He asked the court to issue notice to concerned jail superintendent.

On which Justice Azamat Saeed remarked that the court had issued notice to the federal government and it was its responsibility to implement court orders.

Later, hearing of the case was adjourned for an indefinite period.
