Saudi embassy in Islamabad hosts National Day reception

ISLAMABAD: (APP) It was a fascinating moment when Embassy of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Islamabad rolled out a red carpet to welcome the dignitaries arriving to attend a pompous ceremony to celebrate the National Day of the Kingdom.

The National Day of Saudi Arabia is celebrated on September 23 every year in commemoration of the establishment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by King Abdulaziz in 1932 A.D. (1351 A.H.).

Wearing traditional Saudi dress, Ambassador Abdullah Marzouk Al-Zahrani, host of the event, welcomed the guests to the ceremony held at a local hotel here.

The event was attended by who's who of the diplomatic corp, political parties and notables of the federal capital.

Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif was chief guest of the ceremony with Governor Punjab Malik Rafiq Rajwana, Leader of the House in Senate Raja Zafarul Haq, head of Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Affairs Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Senator Mushahid Hussain, Pakistan Muslim League chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Senator Lt. General (Retd) Abdul Qayyum, besides diplomats from various countries also in attendance.

The national anthems of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were played. The Saudi ambassador along with the guests cut the celebration cake.
