DTH Licenses auction: Supreme Court verdict

ISLAMABAD: (APP) The Supreme Court on Wednesday set aside the stay granted by the Lahore High Court against bidding for Direct To Home (DTH) license by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) and conditionally allowed the Authority to hold the bidding process.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Mushir Alam heard the appeal of PEMRA against the decision of the Lahore High Court in which the Authority was restrained to hold the bidding process for DTH lincense.

The bench conditionally allowed PEMRA to hold only the bidding process with direction to not granting license of DTH till the disposal of instant matter.

The bidding for DTH was scheduled on Wednesday (November 23, 2016). In its prayer, the PEMRA pleaded the court to set aside the LHC order and allow to hold bidding process.

It may be mentioned here that the LHC issued stay order against holding of bidding process for DTH license.
