ISLAMABAD: (APP) Minister In charge Communications Sheikh Aftab Ahmed on Tuesday told the Senate that land acquisition process of western route had been completed while this process continued on eastern route.
Replying to a question in the Upper House, he said E-35 Hassan Abdal-Haripur to Manshera is four lane road and it would be expanded to six lanes.
He said no bridge has collapsed on the Gawadar-Turbat-Hoshab-Panjgur road. The incomplete works left over by the previous contractors had been completed by M/s Frontier Works Organization (FWO), he added.
He said work is being executed as per specifications and quality of work is being monitored by the supervisory consultants.
The minister said the previous contractors could not perform due to poor law and order situation in the areas and quality of work was not the reason for their disengagement.
To another question Sheikh Aftab said National Highways Authority (NHA) construct roads according to international standards and ensures that quality of works on the project is in consonance with the provisions and laid down specifications as per contract.
He said at the time of clearing dues to the contractors NHA deducts the 10 percent security from contractors.
