Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari has reiterated the government's firm commitment to protect and promote human rights in the country.
She was talking to a US delegation led by Ambassador At Large for International Religious Freedom, Sam Brownback, which called on him in Islamabad.
Shireen Mazari said the government is ensuring basic rights of citizens, including women, children and minorities, in pursuance to Constitution and International commitments without any discrimination.
The Minister showed her deep concern over prevailing Islamophobia in some European countries, resulting in deprivation of Muslims to freely practice their religion.
Dr Mazari asserted that unlike in the EU, minorities in Pakistan are allowed to practice their own laws and different laws have been devised to protect their rights.
Members of the US delegation appreciated the endeavors of the incumbent government for protection and promotion of Human Rights.
Meanwhile, the US Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom, Samuel Dale Brownback, also called on Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Noor-ul-Haq Qadri in Islamabad.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister demanded removing Pakistan's name from the Countries of Particular Concern list, as complete religious freedom is being ensured in the country.
He said people of all religions enjoy equal opportunities in Pakistan and their rights are being fully protected in the country.
